The 520MW (8x65 MW) Omkareshwar Hydroelectric Project in Siddhwarkut, Dist.Khandwa of Madhya Pradesh,a Joint Venture of NHPC Limited and Government of Madhya Pradesh was dedicated to the Nation today by Sh Sushilkumar Shinde, Hon’ble Union Minister of Power through remote control from Ministry of Power, Shram Shakti Bhawan, New Delhi.Sh Bharatsinh Solanki, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Power, Sh S.K. Garg, CMD, NHPC Ltd and NHDC Ltd and senior officers from Ministry of Power were present on the occasion.Speaking after dedicating the Project, Sh Sushilkumar Shinde, Hon’ble Union Minister of Power congratulated CMD,NHDC Ltd and employees of NHDC for completing the Omkareshwar Project 4months ahead of schedule.The Hon’ble Minister said that both Omkareshwar and Indira Sagar Projects of NHDC are examples for completing hydroelectric projects in a compressed schedule and hoped that in future also such feat will be achieved by NHDC.Sh Bharatsinh Solanki, Hon’ble Union Minister of Power said that the speed with which NHDC has completed Omkareshwar Project is commendable and congratulated all associated with the construction of the Project.Earlier, welcoming the dignitaries,Sh S.K. Garg, CMD, NHPC Ltd and NHDC Ltd thanked the Hon’ble Union Minister of Power for dedicating the Omkareshwar Project to the Nation.He also thanked the Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Power for gracing the occasion with his benign presence. He said that NHDC is foraying into thermal power generation and also wind power generation.He thanked the Govt of Madhya Pradesh and the people of Madhya Pradesh.Proposing the vote of thanks,Sh K.M. Singh, CED, NHDC expressed his deep gratitude to the Hon’ble Union Minister of Power for dedicating the Omkareshwar Project to the Nation. He also thanked the Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Power for gracing the occasion.Sh K.M.
